5. Picton Mail Boat Cruise

Mt Lyford Ski Area
The Mt Lyford Ski Area is known as one of the best-kept secrets as far as ski fields go and is a great spot to go to skip the crowds. Another awesome thing going for it is that it’s right next door to Kaikoura which has some magical things to see and do.

If you’ve heard of Kaikoura before, there’s a good chance it’s because of the famous whales that call it home. 8. Dolphin Encounter
Whales aren’t the only bit of amazing wildlife you can see in Kaikoura as they also have Dolphin Encounters too. The Dusky Dolphins number in their hundreds off the coast of Kaikoura and these warm and inquisitive creatures love meeting new visitors. There are two types of encounters you can have which include watching them from the boat or swimming with them in the sea!

9. Albatross Encounter

Mount Hutt Ski Area

10. International Antarctic Centre
An excellent attraction for the wintry season is the International Antarctic Centre. Rated as one of the best tourist attractions in Christchurch, the Centre transports you to the Antarctic, recreating the environment with astonishing precision. 11. Willowbank Wildlife Reserve
Penguins aren’t the only form of wildlife you can see in Christchurch especially if you go to the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. Known as New Zealand’s most comprehensive wildlife park, Willowbank is home to some of the country’s most treasured indigenous species. 12. Christchurch Gondola

13. Jet Boat
Jet Boating was pretty much born in this part of the world on the Shotover River and so experiencing it here is an absolute must if you can summon the courage.
